Luigi Legnani (1790-1877) is an Italian composer, which is very dear to us. We have recorded his Duetto Concertante Op.23 on our CD, as it is one of the masterpieces of the flute-guitar repertoire of the classicism.
Legnani started his musical career as an opera singer, which is definitely audible in his composing style. One can easily imagine the music being played by an orchestra next to a stage with different opera characters.
He had also a close friendship with the well known violinist Niccolo Paganini. This has also influenced his way of writing, as his music for classical guitar often emphasizes the viruosity of the performer.
