Jacques Ibert was born in August 1890, which makes him our #composerofthemonth. He is one of the great french composers of the first half of the 20th century.
His music can be festive and gay … lyrical and inspired, or descriptive and evocative … often tinged with gentle humour … all the elements of his musical language bar that of harmony relate closely to the Classical tradition.
Alexandra Laederich, Ibert’s biographer
In the video you can listen to us play his wonderful Entr’acte for flute and guitar (1935). It is quite a fresh recording, from our last weeks’ concert in Pürgg, Austria.
